PAC2000A

Calabria, Italy

The need to modernize logistics infrastructure led PAC 2000A Conad,  the largest Cooperative within the Conad Consortium, to invest in an automated storage system at its distribution center in Montalto Uffugo (CS), Calabria. The main challenge was to implement a solution capable of operating in a high-seismic-risk area, eliminating bottlenecks in the General Merchandise pallet flow, and ensuring long-term scalability to respond to the fluctuations of the retail market.

PAC 2000A chose System Logistics to develop a fully engineered, turnkey solution based on FRS (Fast Rotation Storage) technology: an automated warehouse structured across 5 levels with multi-depth racking, 5 battery-powered Digibat shuttles, single-mast elevators, and full supervision through the proprietary WMS/WCS software Systore. The result is a 6,400-pallet-position system, designed to seismic grade 1 standards, capable of maximizing storage density within just 80×33 meters of footprint, reaching up to 12 meters in height.

The project represents a strategic step toward a higher-performing and more flexible logistics operation: the modular design of the FRS system ensures operational continuity, precise dimensional and weight controls at entry, improved workplace safety, and the capacity for future expansion, protecting the long-term investment and positioning PAC 2000A to meet the evolving demands of large-scale retail distribution.
